Thanks to my ever-obliging mother, I am the owner of this Silence & Noise sequinned vest from Urban Outfitters in black. But I'm still working out ways to wear it without looking like a complete Kate-Moss-wannabe-noob. Which is hard since a picture of la Moss in jeans, a singlet and a sequinned vest kickstarted my obsession with this particular piece of garment. Odd how I buy into trends and try so hard to make it look as if it isn't a trend at all.
Also - I've realised why vests look so good on models but take me hours to get right. Models have non-existent-to-small busts and teeny tiny shoulder spans. As a result, the vests lie flat and floppy rather than tight into the armpits and across the bust. It really brings home to me this myth that models have to be super-thin because clothes "hang better". What that really means is that society has collectively decided that really slim girls look best in clothes. The key for me is to buy stretchier vests or else extra-extra large ones. I guess some garments just aren't ready for my jelly ; ) Anyway, any suggestions from all of your super stylish viewpoints will be gladly appreciated.

That vest is awesome.
ReplyDeleteLove your vest
ReplyDeletelol hun i have the exact same problem. My bra size is a 10C near D and it can get so annoying, good at times but damn annoying at others lol. (too much info :P)
ReplyDeleteAnyway i've always dealt with wearing a bra that actually flattened the area lol. Or otherwise not buttoning the front and leaving it hang loose. Maybe a scoop neck taht doesn't hang too low underneath? Play around and have fun with it. Its a beaut :D
I love the sequin vest -- so versatile! I found a sequin vest at a vintage shop a few years ago and I love it -- it receives so many compliments ;)
ReplyDeleteI *always* love the look of sequins but can never figure out how to wear them for my every day life. Love the vest.
