flannel shirted rain

Grey days make time stop and people hibernate. There's this weird, spitty moisture in the air, half-heartedly splattering water against the windows. Its as if the the rain can't even be bothered with the effort. Here, it grunts and slouches, his shoulders slouching protective around his pint of beer. He's wearing a blue and white flannel shirt, jeans, and a trucker cap and the bar is (of course) a dive, scarred brick, dark wood, thin carpets, and fights breaking out over the pool table. Leave me alone, kid, he'll say without turning. I've got better things to do.

P.S. I've been mucking around with the links. If you've somehow dropped off, please email/tweet/comment me!

  2. I LOVE this new blog design, and the floral photographs.

The background/header illustration bring to mind classic lit. like Jane Eyre ( a new fav. of mine) and MiddleMarch.

I was at a Barnes&Noble bookstore recently, skimming through a book about plant and vegetation illustration - very fine and detailed work. It's interesting to realize that some people make a living out of just drawing plants, vegetables, flowers in a hyper realistic way ... and in order to make their work better, they tend to surround themselves with the things they draw. Seems like a peaceful, meditative lifestyle.
