**UPDATE: Miles Apart with Diana will be one week late. Don't worry! Diana and I will be back on the 16/17 November (depending on whether you're in NZ and US). 35 mm Black and White Film Miles Apart edition, y'all!**
A summery Sunday night around six o'clock is one of my favourite times to wander. The suburban families with their giant four wheel drives have gone back home. My favourite cafes are laidback and empty once more. Shops are airless and shut tight and you can press your nose to the window without shame. This Sunday someone emptied a large bottle of candy scented bubble bath into a fountain. Tufts of white froth, pillowy and soft, floated through the air and landed soundlessly on the concrete path.

The weekend is nearly over. The Patient Photographer bought two giant black and white framed prints of Native American Indians named "Bread" and "Yellow Owl" at Abel Traders. We walked them through the city like accidental sandwich boards. We ate gluten-free chocolate cake at Ernesto so redolent with almond meal, chocolate, and creamed butter, it was like getting a glimpse into cake heaven. And I admired the Kate Sylvester outfits in the window display in her Cuba Street store below. One of everything please, Kate.

These photos are all wonderful. They've definitely got that lazy Sunday kind of feel about them :)

Dearest Ana, thank you for your comments. They brightened my day. I did darken my hair a bit. It's a touch darker than my normal color and fades out nicely. I do this every few months.
ReplyDeleteI love this post. Can I wander around Wellington with you? Mm, those Kate Sylvester window displays are gorgeous. And bubbles in a fountain? Genius! Magical!
You're such a good writer Ana! Seriously.
