Fu Yongjun's "A Tree by the West Lake" series was one of the winners in the World Press Photo 2009 competition (Nature & Environment News Stories). Amidst a sea of serious, weighty, and epic photojournalism, this was the one that made me feel *something*. I am so desensitised to images and descriptions of unspeakable events and things. But a picture of a tree standing still during the seasons is the one that brings me to tears.
