a good woman

Lovelies, tomorrow I am attending an International Women's Day breakfast at Parliament. Having the spent the evening at an event hosted by a local women's lawyers' organisation, I cannot impress on you all enough the need for every single one of us to be grateful that we have the opportunities we so take for granted. And to always be mindful that, despite the rhetoric and focus on an apparent gender equality and the rise of women in powerful positions, for the majority of us, particularly those in less-developed countries, the goal of true partnership remains a distant horizon.

I recommend Manifesta: Young Women, Feminism, and the Future by Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards. And the F Word.

  5. I feel like your paragraph should have ended with a nice spice girl inspired "Girl Power!!"
And we are very lucky we both live in countries where women can, for the most part, do what they want to do and be what they want to be [Now I feel like I'm quoting The Mamas and the Papas!]

Also, I love the pictures :]
