Horses for Courses

Forgive me - this will read like a very lame "Tell me what you did in the holidays" type essay, except about my weekend. I will, of course, try very hard to cover up this fact by tossing in some photos of Sasha Pivarova with a horse and inserting photographs of me shamelessly posing in front of the camera (so what's new?!). Normal style/fashion-related posts will resume once I've recovered from a particularly busy weekend. So here we go --

1. No you are not experiencing deja vu. I went once again to karaoke. The eagle-eyed amongst you will recognise the neon background from this post and surmise that I, in fact, went to the same karaoke bar as last time. Most well-received songs sung by yours truly: Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio, I'll Make Love to You by Boyz II Men, and the timeless She's Like the Wind by Patrick Swayze.

♥ Dress by MinkPink from Wild Pair ♥ Vest from Zara ♥ Wrist Hardware is thrifted, from Diva and Equip ♥ Shoes from Portmans ♥ Patrick Swayze's abs circa Dirty Dancing - all his own.

2. As a result of my karaoke over-indulgence, Saturday night was a write-off for me. I woke up at the ripe ol' hour of 2 pm, ate some lunch, and fell back to sleep until I got up at 6 pm to paint my nails, play with the make-up I bought on Friday lunchtime, read a trashy romance novel by Meg Cabot (highly recommended!) and Elle UK, swig sugar-free V, and pose with all my chain and studded accessories.

♥ Vest from Zara ♥ White ruffle tee from Zara ♥ Jeans from Glassons ♥ Pink dress/tunic from Supre ♥ Hat from the men's section of the Warehouse ♥ Grey heels from Mi Piaci ♥ Brown heels from Sachi ♥ White heels from Nude ♥ Headband from Portmans ♥ Wrist hardware is thrifted and from MNG, Diva, Equip ♥ Necklaces from Diva ♥ Studded bag from Farmers

3. Horse trekking in the Ohariu Valley. I almost did not get an invite since my friend thought that wearing a helmet and getting hat hair would turn me off. This hurt me given that I don't believe I'm that high maintenance. But I showed 'em! Me and my 20 year old, stubborn, lackadaisical, laid back, refused-to-trot horse called Red. And look! Sasha Pivarova with a horse in designer clothing. But spot the odd one out. It's a tough one.

  1. Quite the action packed weekend! I particularly love a bit of Boyz II Men and your vest is super awesome. We also seem to share a fondness for trashy Meg Cabot novels.

  4. 'She's like the wind' is classic. Great choice.
Its sounds like we both had horsy weekends.
    In answer to your questions:
    - The dress feels like taffeta but its a slightly sheer. Honestly I have no idea what it is - but I love it.
    - Sadly, I did leave the sequined boob tube in Valley Girl because the back of it was un-sparkly pretty dull. I did get the other dress I tried on though.

I love karaoke toooo.... but noone else I know does so I never go :S

Hahah I love the blonde mop on the horse. And what on earth is with the pony in the last pic - poor thing has a pillow strapped around him?

  7. And you looked super cute doing in all! Especially that little black dress and vest. Argh I'm a wee bit envious, I rode horses every day till the age of 16 and haven't so much as sat on one since.

  8. Strike Match: It was action-packed! But I'm paying for it now with my current lethargy at work. The Meg Cabot novel I have just finished reading is "She Went All the Way". If you haven't already read it, it's good fun!

The Romantic Apple & Louise: You guys can go horse trekking to! Link here: http://www.truenz.co.nz/TourismWebsite06.php?id=1123
It's about $45 for an hour and suits any level of rider. We also had brunch at the place and fed the eels in the river. Really good day out

Muchlove: I had a really great time but am quite sore now!

Lavender: Timeless song. Just timeless! Valley Girl and their cost-cutting measures. What's the point of the sequinned boobtube if it doesn't make a grand exit as well as a grand entrance ;)

Vintage Year: The vest and I have not parted for a couple of days now.

Marcella: The Zara buys are from trips overseas. I don't think they ship to NZ or have some sort of online shopping available. Which sucks! The little pony is gorgeous, isn't he? I suspect the pillow is his saddle? or maybe he is cold?

Paper Doll: I love the dress. it's my wardrobe fall-back whenever there's nothing else to wear.

Louise: link to website re: how to book the trekking is above! I think it's time for you to get back in the saddle ;)
