Christian Louboutin has announced his intention to launch shoes with an 8-inch (or 20.32 cm) heel. I believe this is a record high for women's shoes outside of fetish ranges! Hannah Betts at the Guardian has a very thought-provoking article on heels, masochism and feminism. The YSL Tribute has a 5 1/2 inch heel (around 13 cms) and Mary Rambin from NonSociety doesn't look all too comfortable on them in this photo:

All I can say is I'm five foot one. Any chance to be hoisted up is a good time for me! Some friends call my heels 'Advanced Shoes' given that I've trained my whole life to be able to run around all day in them. I think this is the perfect time to do some designer shoe ogling. I wasn't conscientious enough to label the designer of each shoe so I'll tell you the label and you guess which shoe! It'll be fun! Okay: Christian Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti, Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Miu Miu, Lanvin. Hint: The red soles are a dead giveaway!
