I'm thinking of a life without things; or at the very least, without clutter. Oliver Burkeman, a columnist from The Guardian, recently wrote about getting rid of memory boxes, and how the time and thought spent collecting souvenirs of life is disproportionate to the amount of time spent revisiting those memories. I've written previously about the bleakness I find with according so much sentiment to objects. After all, we are the ones who impose meanings to the things, not the other way around.
It's been years since I've sat down to look at what was inside those boxes.

I am sat on my bed deciding what to do with the birthday cards I have kept over the years.. there is only so long you can hang onto them for !
I loved that article! So happy you mentioned it, I'm currently wondering how to reorganize pretty much everything to gain efficiency and simplicity.
Wait, know what? Emailing you right now.

Those dresses are lovely and I wish I could try them on! As for memory boxes, I have two medium sized ones and I try to take 'em out every year, especially the letters from back when people wrote physical ones. :)
Gorgeous photos!

Ahh, so true! I used to be a hardcore memory item hoarder... I would seriously save every card from every birthday, ever little piece of crap on any vacations (like a used napkin from Vietnam... how meaningful...). I've been going through all of it lately, though, and throwing loads of it away. It's such a great feeling once you get going. :) You're totally right, the things themselves have no meaning.
Gorgeous photos as usual, Ana B!. Are those dresses made of paper?! Just love it!
I've been purging my house of things (clothes, knick-knacks, books) for the past two months while I prep for Scotland. It has been really freeing. There are moments when I feel a little low because my closet is fairly empty and most of my things are gone to charity. But I think that's why it's so good to get rid of the extra stuff – I don't want my norm to be just filling my space with more and more stuff that I decide to get sentimental about.
I love clearing out clutter, but I always feel like I could do a little better. I still have binders full of notes from my grad school classes, blown-glass knick-knacks in a storage box, books I'm never going to read again. Why?? I really should weed out that stuff.
Cute post! Love the photos. It's so true that stuff is just stuff but we give it so much personal meaning. I used to save so much crap but recently I trash a lot. I hate clutter! HAHA. Keep up the good work! Love the blog. xoxo, your friend in Israel

That map dress = love. It looks to be constructed out of paper? I'd totally hang that on my wall and then possibly feel guilty about adding to the clutter that is my life ;)
