At the fair, I watched fathers paying through the nose so that their little ones could have the joy of being chucked up, whirled around and whipped through the air on rides. People flung their hands up into the sky, letting go of the safety bars, swaying back into the seat, turning their face up to the sun with their eyes wide. When we were young, we jumped off roofs thinking we could fly and ran across roads believing traffic would magically stop. We were invincible. As you grow older, even a fairground ride with all its safety instructions and heavy duty engineering can't give you back that feeling again.

ReplyDeleteaaahhh. That's so true. I don't know what happened to my powers, but when i was 5 i used to fly. And i have this magical power to pick mangoes without climbing the tree. These are the reasons i hate growing up.
ReplyDeleteAna i love your tulip skirt. The color suits you so beautifully.

So pretty Ana.B! I can't remember the last time I went on a fun fair ride - I think it was slightly traumatic which explains why I haven't been on one since! But I do love a good old fashioned ferris wheel!
ReplyDeletecute girly skirttt!!!

ReplyDeleteI was rear ended at the traffic lights on Saturday and now I am in a neck brace - kind of scared to be in cars again!
Perfect outfit. I especially like your skirt but everything is beautiful. Your pictures are so dreamy I love the way they turned out. I like what you wrote it is so so true.
ReplyDeletei tend to say yes to rides. but find myself closing my eyes through it all. lol
ReplyDeleteYou look perfectly pretty for a day at the fair. $2 pearls? Yes please.
ReplyDeleteYour words really resonate with me, Ana. Even as a kid, rides at the fair never gave me that "I'm invincible" thrill like jumping off roofs or climbing through brooks did. Gosh, I miss that. I used to spend hours wading through pools and scampering over wet rocks :)
Very cute, can't wait for the warm weather!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful colours Ana! It's hard not to start dreaming right at my desk when I see photos of a funfair. The cotton candy, the bright colours and pure excitement.
ReplyDeleteI love your get-up and especially your skirt, it's just so sweet!

ReplyDeleteI love the skirt. This is so wonderfully nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteOne of my the things that reminds me most of my childhood is riding the ferris wheel (not that I did it a lot) but I just remember being a little kid and feeling the world fall away and being so high and that feeling of wonder, and I love that. But now I love all the big scary rides that give me a huge rush.
