We stayed in a hotel where Canaletto, the painter, was born. It was tiny for three people but resplendent with a chandelier, flocked wallpaper, and baroque mirrors. It was called - unimaginatively - Hotel Canaletto. I wandered far far away from the tourist crowds. I was led to the place where Venetians actually lived. The calles were blindingly white there. I looked down an alleyway and found myself entranced by clothes flapping on a washing line high up above. I'd never seen washing hung out over water.
Thank you, Emily for the beautiful dress and vintage brooch I've worn in this post! When I opened your package, I squealed aloud and giggled like a little girl. Trust me. I have witnesses.

what a stunning blog! happy i found it :) of course, now i'm off, lost in my own little reverie of travel nostalgia...! :)
ReplyDeleteGasp! That dress is so gorgeous on you! And I'm totally in love with that white eyelet vest!
ReplyDeleteAs for Venice: I love how you stayed in the same area as Canaletto! Last time I was in Venice I went to see works by Carpaccio - his series for a local Scuola owned (in the 15th cent) by Dalmatians is still in situ!!! And it's a very non-touristy spot too! I think it's quite a feat to get away from the fray in Venice-- but once you manage it, isn't it magical?
I've missed your blog! I've been so busy I haven't found the time to update myself with cute styles like yours. I also love the words you put into each post. stay lovely
