it's all a blur

I've worn glasses since I was 9 and contacts since I was 18. I am incredibly short-sighted. Without lenses or glasses, the fingers of my hand stretched in front of me look blurry and insubstantial. The entire world is like the images of a pinhole camera. My optometrist today shook her head in disbelief at how rapidly my eyesight had changed within a short space of time. Without knowing what I do or who I was, she correctly guessed my job purely based on the fact that I had such crappy eyesight. Then she told me that every thirty minutes I should look way off into the distance for as long as I was able. Perfect. A health excuse to stop working every thirty minutes!

Finally, thank you to the lovely Clau at So Audrey for this blog award! It always amazes me when I make connections with people so far away. Gracias Claus! I promise to give it out very soon.

  1. This is one time I particularly want to know where you your clothes came from - that skirt is quite possibly perfect! My husband's has terrible eyesight too, at least you can wear contacts, it would be awful to not have that choice.

  8. hey thanks for commenting on my making of of that drawing... it's a miracle, since I think people might be afraid of tits, pubic hair and strong content and I was losing hope on getting any comments at all.
Glad you broke the chain! *

Oh... I can't imagine progressively losing sight, but when I was 11/12 years old I suffered from optic nevritis for a week and I couldn't see squat. All that because of stupid mono. So... not seeing is very bad and I know it, but it's not the same as losing it slowly.. :/

  13. i can totally relate. i started wearing glasses when i was 6, and contacts when i was 18. i can only see clearly 15cm from my face, and everything past that is a complete blur. we should morph into bats! >:D bats with style, that is. then we can swoop into Chanel stores and steal fly out with their shoes! MUAHAHAHA!

  14. Ana,
Thank you for your kind comment!
My blog is definitely an outlet for me to share all of the random things I find amusement in. There are only a few people I know with whom I can have conversations about cottages & not bore them to death ;)
And ahh, Paris. I want to have a proper visit there someday (I've been in the airport during a layover). Prague and Istanbul are on my list too. The fact that the city limits of Istanbul span two continents astounds me.

The colors in your outfit go together perfectly. I adore that bolero. So lovely! ♥

  15. Yay for those with terrible vision. I'm the oppposite though; up close my vision is fine, but I can't see anything that's far away.

hahha and no, the instructions were for how to take long exposure pictures. You know, the ones with the lights. The word "this" was a link, but maybe I need to change my link color or something.

  16. I adore your skirt! Since I started wearing my glasses and contacts, I have gotten so dependent on them! I feel dizzy when I take them away.

  17. WAAAAAH so cool with the cropping (apologies for being super 'asian' there)lol.

That is an amazing talent from an optometrist or even anyone for that matter. Wonder if she can predict how long from now i'll be needing glasses? Hmm.... ;)

Oh, and to answer you quest it came with my flat lol. Can you beleive that!? I got here first so had first dibs on everything, not that i realy needed too lol it was already in my room haha.

  19. I feel your pain on the eyesight thing. My vision is -10, and I can see literally nothing without glasses. I wear the strongest contacts they make, which is a bit scary. I don't know what I'd do if there wasn't that option, as my glasses are inevitably somewhat Coke-bottle-y.
