I was watching Lost in Austen last night while chomping my way through gingerbread cookies home-baked by my bestie and swilling bubbly. While I was able to watch this crowd-pleasing mini-series with a critical eye (why is it women are convinced there will be a prince behind a beastly facade? why would you want to time travel back - let alone, stay - in a time where originality, independence and self-sufficiency was a pipe dream for women? etc etc), I was unable to stop myself from falling in love with the 180os hairstyles. I do love a good headband, bling and curls! Bugger the Darcy. Look at the hair!

ReplyDeleteThe pearls and the dress really suit you!
Jane Austen hair is always so lovely. I'm both inspired and impressed by your 'do. I only wish I was better at styling hair.. :(
ReplyDeleteI hope one day you'll get the pet that is most meant for you, it'll be the perfect time, you will see. ♥
Did you check out the Harry Potter "song" HAHAHA... hands down one of my favorite YouTUBE VIDEOS! ;)

The shirt/pond scene does it for me everytime :) Love this blog, Merry Christmas <3 x
ReplyDeleteI'm a HUGE Jane Austen fan - and a big fan of the movies (especially Persuasion and the P&P with Colin Firth). I remember after Lauren and I got one of our best friends to sit through Emma, she came to school the next day with all these curls around her face. It looked awesome! You look gorgeous with your headband. Definitely a good look for you!
ReplyDeletethat dress looks amazing on you!

So true, how you've worn the pearls is beautiful. I'm just making my way through the novel myself and its actually surprisingly good for me (always thought it was overhyped) but its definately warranted.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo. tata luv
Ha-ha, I couldn't agree more! The hair is gorgeous, but the men less so...even the most admirable man of that time was born into his position and could never see a woman as an equal!
ReplyDeleteI love the hair in screen adaptions of Jane Austen, it is so intricate and beautiful. Wonderfully feminine.
ReplyDeleteI was watching the mini series last night also, although i was less than impressed... I'm afraid i abandoned it to go read Anna Karenina! Oops :)
xx
Oh, I completely agree with you. I love to revel in the world of Austen through page and film, but would never want to be stuck there - I am thankful to be a modern woman! :) I do love the hair though, and the screen-shots & pictures you included are some of the best! I really like your pretty headband too!
ReplyDeleteI'm still not sure if I liked Lost in Austen or not. But I definitely like the headband look!
