Voyages to India

I stumbled across the Wistful Republic's scans of a 1966 fashion spread in McCall's magazine entitled "Voyage to India." I love the exoticism, the colour, the 60s headwrap, the textures, the clothes. It has such a timeless quality about it that I had to share it.

And then a day later, I was flipping through the June 2008 issue of Australian Vogue and found a fashion spread entitled "Indian Dream". She looks like a bohemian princess slummin' it with the saddhu. I couldn't help comparing these editorials which are separated by more than three decades but set in the same place.

  1. wow, I love those retro fashion shoots. There's something very elegant and "tidy" about them.

  2. Tidy is exactly the word! the 60s shoot is kinda precious isn't it? compared to the vogue one which has a more laidback approach.
